Why choose a group dog walker?

Dogs are social animals and group walks provide the opportunity for socialisation with the guidance of an experienced and professional dog handler. Group walks help to teach dogs how to better respond to dog communication and improve their social skills. My experience as a dog walker has shown me that calm pack sniffing helps lower anxiety and builds confidence with other dogs. Socialising with other dogs out in the countryside is enriching and fulfilling and provides the mental stimulation our dogs need. Your dog will come home tired and ready to sleep the afternoon away until you come home from work.

Pavement walks on a short lead changes a dogs body language and coming head on with other dogs can be intimidating for most of our pups. Being able to be relaxed in a group walk with space to roam in the countryside off lead or on longlines allows our dogs to interact with other dogs in a calm and confident manner.

Our group walk dogs are out longer than a solo walk. Solo walks are usually an hour only and walked on pavements from the house or in busy parks. Our dogs are out for longer than an hour and walks can often overrun if the dogs are having fun. We only walk our group walk dogs out in rural areas which is safer and quieter for any anxious dogs. We do not do pavement walks or any walks in any of the local parks. We encourage our group walk dogs to engage with the environment.

Providing group walks allows us the time to be able to drive dogs further out for rural and countryside walks. Rural walks are enriching and provide more opportunities to sniff, more engagement with the environment and allows our dogs to engage in breed behaviours and with their doggy instincts. Our rural group walks allows us to have balanced walks to ensure that every dog gets what they need from the walk whether that be a good sniff or zooming around the countryside playing with their friends.

We include complimentary training on our group walks such as confidence building, lowering anxiety, on lead walking, working on boisterousness and over excitement, focussing, sitting for treats and preventing jumping up. We will always individualise your dogs training to their own needs, learning style, and personality.

We have a dedicated dog walking van for our group walks to transport your dogs in a crash safe crate system with lockable crates for your dogs safety. Each dog has their own individual crate. Each crate has it's own drying mat, noodle drying mat, bowl, rechargeable fan and cool mat. We have an electric dog washer and spare jerrican of water for those extra muddy days. Our van provides us with the space to carry extra equipment and for each dog to have their own crate and safe space.

We have a fantastic bond with your dog and know everything about them. It doesn't matter if we walk your dog one day a week or five, we will know your dog incredibly well and consider them part of the family. As we are a member of one, the person you meet at the meet and greet will be who walks your dog. We do not have employees in order to provide a more personable experience and to ensure we can create a bond with your dog. This allows us to train them effectively and our bond with your dog ensures more reliable recall. We understand that each dog requires different care and training and provide individualised care and training whilst out on our walks.

Our group walk dogs are excited when we collect them and I'm also excited to see them. Don't be surprised if I come in and sing them their own personal song! Our group walk dogs can't wait to see their friends and are rushing me out of the door to go explore the countryside with their pals. We have a "choir" in the van with dogs singing all the way to the walk!

Why choose a group dog walker with an anxious dog?

Teddy

Teddy was an incredibly nervous dog when he first joined us for group walks. He was scared of the van and would shake. I started by clipping him into my puppy box next to me at the front of the van and desensitizing him in the van parked up. I then noticed Teddy liked it when I sang to him so began driving and singing to him to distract him and reinforcing his confidence with treats. According to Teddy I'm a wonderful singer (I'm really not). Once his confidence began to grow I placed him in the crate behind me. I then began putting him in crates next to other dogs he liked. Teddy is now no longer afraid of the van.

He was also very nervous and timid around other dogs. I worked on confidence building and neutrality around other dogs. I encouraged sniffing and building friendships with calmer and confident dogs. We allowed him space on a longline to join, or not join in on playing, whilst pairing him with dogs that were similar to him as his confidence built. Over time Teddy has come on leaps and bounds and his confidence has flourished. He makes new friends on walks all the time and is super playful and cheeky. We wouldn't have him any other way! His owners have noticed a change in Teddy when they walk him and how much more confident and relaxed he is on walks with them. I am so incredibly proud of Teddy and how far he has come. He continually shows me how much can change for a dog on group walks if you understand them and give them the training and love that they need.
